batman arkham origins

Arkham Wonder Years returns with some charming gangster-related thuggery.

Riddle me this: how does a prequel ramp up the action? With a gameplay trailer full of explosions and brutally beaten criminals of course.

Warner Bros. Montreal teased us with a cinematic fight between Batman and Deathstroke the Terminator recently. Now E3 has arrived at last and we’re allowed a glimpse at some of the sweet, sweet nocturnal vigilantism we crave. Interesting features of note include Batman’s detective vision rewinding time, and a fancy-dance grappling hook that can pull enemies around or even smack them into each other.

Batman doesn’t do much else beyond swooping down on unsuspecting crooks in the trailer, but Gotham looks suitably amazing. Arkham Origins’ Christmas theme is a pleasant nod in the direction of Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, but with less freakish villains on display in the form of Black Mask and his hired goons.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed, and ready for release on October 25 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC.
