The delayed Pokemon Bank app has finally gone live in Europe, Australia and New Zealand on the Nintendo eShop.

Heavy demand put on Nintendo’s servers by the Japanese launch meant that Pokemon Bank slipped from an intended late December release date in other regions. Future availability of the app in North America is still unclear.

3DS owners can download Pokemon Bank from the Nintendo eShop now to store their catches from X and Y. A free 30-day trial applies for anyone who grabs the app before 14 March. Pokemon fans wanting to use the Bank after their trial expires will have to fork out £4.49 or €4.99 for a year’s access.

There are some sweet advantages to Pokemon Bank for dedicated trainers. Up to 3000 Pokemon can be stored, and the companion app Poke Transporter is made free for Bank users to transfer Pokemon from Black, White, Black 2 and White 2.

As an extra bonus, Pokemon Bank subscribers can download their very own time-travelling Mythical Pokemon, Celebi, until 30 September.
