Awkward.

Microsoft issues download codes for affected gamers.

If you bought a Season Pass on Xbox Live for The Wolf Among Us then DO NOT try to download the second episode, Smoke & Mirrors, just yet. You will be charged again. Don’t fret though, because there’s already a workaround.

Telltale Games’ latest installment in its stylish Fables-based adventure game series has come a cropper on Xbox Live since release on Wednesday. Attempts to download Smoke & Mirrors with a Season Pass already purchased and present on your system will only prompt a repeated purchase of the episode. XYAB came across the issue last night using our own Xbox and hurriedly bashed the B button to cancel.

Luckily for anyone wanting to play Smoke & Mirrors straight away, Telltale and Microsoft have issued redemption codes for the episode to those affected. If you have a Season Pass, all you need to do to access your code is head to your Messages on Xbox Live or on the Xbox website. Enter the code you’ve been sent, using the Redeem Code option on your account, and you’re almost ready to go.

Just don’t try to download Smoke & Mirrors from The Wolf Among Us menu unless you want to be asked to pay, again. Scoot over to your Download History under the Account menu on your Xbox 360 instead to start the download from there, free of requests for extra cash. The episode should then be accessible from within The Wolf Among Us.

Telltale has been quick to jump on the problem and announced it’s working with Microsoft to correct the issue. In a post on the Telltale message board, the company apologised and promised to roll out a title update in the next few days to prevent future problems for Season Pass holders.
