Last-gen consoles stay frosty in Ubisoft’s trailer for Assassin’s Creed Rogue.

PS3 and Xbox 360 owners needn’t feel any Animus-ity (sorry, not sorry) about Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s delectable next-gen looks, as the latest game in the series to be announced is exclusively aimed straight between last-gen consoles’ eyes.

This time, players will step into the antique boots of a Templar during the Seven Years’ War – sometimes called an early world war, history fans. Shay Patrick Cormac turns to the Templars after being betrayed by the Brotherhood. The series seems to have stuck itself into a time-loop around the 18th century now, but Rogue might spell the end of that.

Ubisoft Sofia game director Martin Capel said: “Assassin’s Creed Rogue completes the North American saga started with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and gives previous generation console owners an exclusive opportunity to experience fan-requested features, such as playing as a Templar.”

Shay has new areas of North America to explore like the icy North Atlantic and urban New York. Sailing once again forms part of gameplay and there will be new weapons to toy with. Templars enjoy ships too apparently, so Shay has his own: the Morrigan.

A trailer for Assassin’s Creed Rogue was leaked on Dailymotion earlier today by French channel Equipe Xboxlive.fr before its head was swiftly lopped off Unity-style.

Ubisoft has since officially confirmed details of Rogue in a press release and added the trailer to its YouTube channel.

Originally thought to be titled Assassin’s Creed Comet, Rogue is confirmed for a worldwide November 11 launch on Xbox 360 and PS3.  As is usual by now, there’s no word on whether the game will make it to Wii U.

Gamers who choose to pre-order can bag themselves two exclusive missions: the Siege of Fort de Sable and the Armor of Sir Gunn’s Quest. The Collector’s Edition is priced at £54.99 and also comes boxed with an artbook, soundtrack and three lithographs.
